Akiva J. Kurland, CPA is the founding partner and CEO of Avidwell Property Group which was launched in 2015 as a formalization of close to 15 years of experience in the real estate and finance industry. Akiva oversees the management, deal flow and businesses developement of the company. Akiva, through Avidwell and it’s related companies, has closed more than 500 transactions totaling over $500 million.Akiva also currently serves as the CEO of Yellow Jacket Ventures LLC, a fully integrated real estate development, bridge lending and management company which has many synergies with Avidwell. Before founding Avidwell and YJV, Akiva was the CFO and CCO of KG Investments Fund, an event driven hedge fund that specialized in investing in special situation opportunities. Akiva was also a manager at Blackstone in their credit group and was the CFO of Palladium Capital Advisors, a boutique investment bank that specializes in M&A, capital raises and reverse mergers. Akiva began his career as a CPA in Ernst & Young’s asset management practice.Akiva graduated with honors with a B.S. in accounting from Brooklyn College, CUNY, is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of New York and is a member of the AICPAand a licensed real estate broker with the state of NY. Akiva is involved with many charitable organizations in his community and has pioneered mentoring programs for students and the less fortunate at local elementary and high schools. Akiva resides in Brooklyn, NY and is an avid cyclist, skier and traveler.

Dr. Michelle Horowitz is the director of sales at Avidwell Property Group. Michelle has a wealth of management and sales experience and is focused on catering to her large rolodex of relationships by pairing high net worth investors and institutions with real estate sellers seeking a seamless exit. Michelle and her team previously raised over $100 million in LP equity for skilled nursing facilities across the US, and exclusively represented clients in commercial real estate transactions ranging from $10 million to $425 million.

Michelle graduated with a PharmD from St. John's University, led an MTM program for FQHC’s in upstate NY, implemented a Clinical Pharmacy Program for New York City Health and Hospitals, and is the founder and CPO of YonaRX, a healthcare technology collaborative platform for medical professionals. Michelle is dedicated to leveraging information technology, and networking to improve client outcomes and secure advantageous deals in real estate investments.

Sophie Cheng graduated from Columbia University with a masters degree in Real Estate Development and the University of Michigan with a bachelors degree in Mathematics. Sophie has 10 years of experience in the real estate finance industry. She worked as a commercial real estate agent, and was an underwriting analyst for a real estate debt fund in New York City. She was an associate at the REGLL team of the Deutsche Bank investment banking division before joining Avidwell Property Group.

Roxanne is a licensed salesperson at Avidwell Property Group and manages the firms apartment rental group. Roxanne was a co-founder of a digital marketing sales company where she was the president of sales for 6 years before joining Avidwell.

Roxanne received a Bachelor of Arts from West Virginia University, where she double majored in Entrepreneurship and Communications.

As a lifetime and passionate New Yorker, Roxanne is personally familiar with the unique flavor that each NYC neighborhood has to offer and is always available to guide her clients with their rental, buying & selling needs. 

While Roxanne isn’t match making clients with their dream dwellings, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling and is an avid exercise enthusiast.
